Are you a high school student, CCD student, or Scout looking to fulfill community service hours? Or are you simply interested in helping us Keep Mansfield Beautiful? Either way, we welcome your participation! Currently, we are looking for help with the following projects:
Mansfield Green Beautification
Targeted for the fall of 2010, we are planning to landscape and beautify the Mansfield Green on East Street (also known as the recycling center). The goal is to install a sidewalk, build an island out front with a stone wall, and erect a new, attractive sign. New plantings will help shield the dumpsters from street view. We need volunteers to:
- Donate time and labor. Help us when the time comes to plant shrubs. Date tbd.
- Help with fundraising. We are planning to solicit contributions from local landscapers and nurseries.
- Donate money.
If you would like to make a cash donation to help us pay for shrubs and sign materials, please make your check payable to The Mansfield Beautification Committee Account 4070-483000 and mail to Town of Mansfield, Attn Parks & Recreation, 6 Park Row, Mansfield, MA 02048. All contributions to Keep Mansfield Beautiful are tax deductible!
Project Green Schools
We are looking for students or parents who can help establish a green schools program in the Mansfield school system. Green schools’ mission is to create healthier learning environments in schools by addressing issues related to:
- Indoor Air Quality
- Healthy Food and Habits & Nutrition
- The 3Rs: Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling
Green schools aims to protect the health of every individual in our schools by teaching how to make more environmentally respectful and responsible decisions.
