Mike's Story

Mansfield has seen firsthand how one person can make such a positive impact on so many lives and to an entire community.

If you do not know Mike, just look around town for man driving a dark grey truck! You will see him helping on Hazardous Waste Day, planting and watering the flowers for the downtown flower barrel program, picking up trash during our town cleanups and corporate-sponsored events, obtaining food from various supermarkets for the pantry, organizing and distributing food at the pantry, delivering food to elderly shut-ins, cleaning the memorial plagues at Saint Mary’s cemetery, and countless other activities too many to list.

When you see Mike, please know that he just doesn’t show up on time, he is always the first to arrive! His work ethic and dependability are unmatched. What people do not see is all the behind-the-scenes work Mike does to make sure everything is successful. When planning the food drives, Mike carefully coordinates and communicates with different organizations in town. For the downtown flowers, Mike worked with the DPW to use their watering tank so the flowers could be watered and fertilized more efficiently. For the town’s fall and spring cleanups, Mike is the group leader for the Knights of Columbus. His group is always assigned the most challenging location, knowing it will be overseen by Mike and done perfectly.

We celebrate what Mike has accomplished over the past 33 years. He has been an inspiration to us all with his strong work ethic, fearless desire to get things done, compassion for others, integrity, and love for the town of Mansfield.
