Trash Can be beautiful!

Our "Trash can be Beautiful" program transforms ordinary municipal trash cans into works of art. There are now more than 30 decorative trash cans in downtown Mansfield, Memorial Park, and other locations.

This program provides an opportunity to put your own creative stamp on our town and reduce litter with a bit of community creativity.

The Trash Can Be Beautiful program is ideal for artists, families, youth groups, or anyone who is interested in making our town cleaner and greener.

Tips For Creating a Beautiful Trash Can

  • Submit a request(above button) for a town trash can that has been cleaned, sanded, and primed for painting.

  • We will notify you when a trash can is available for you to pick up and take home

  • Use your imagination and skills to create a beautiful design for your trash canthe can's dimensions are 73" x 36". However, because a plastic trash bag will drape over the top edge, use only a background color for the top 10 inches. That leaves a 62" x 36" surface for painting your design.

  • Be sure to use exterior acrylic latex paint (check the paint can label)

  • Family-friendly designs only and no advertising messages

  • Trash cans will be deployed in locations on town-owned property, as determined by Keep Mansfield Beautiful and the Mansfield DPW.
